Darren Maurer grew up in Grand Island, Nebraska where he
spent much of his time out of doors hunting and fishing in the Platte River
Valley. From brisk winter evenings to drowsy summer afternoons, the natural
world around him left an impression on Darren as it does many young boys, but
eventually the awareness of nature led him to pursue an even deeper interest:
the field of art.

Here in the world of paint and brush, Darren's experiences
are portrayed in the images that he creates. They have appeared in many
national publications and are available in limited edition as well as
commissioned originals. These stirring scenes are quickly becoming widespread
favorites in the homes and offices of people, who like Darren himself, share
the love of the outdoors. Often these images recall an earlier time and an
easier pace as they show the rich history of the American sportsman.
Especially notable are the nostalgic renderings of old time
lures. These memorable images have been captured in a limited edition series
of 8 timeless prints entitled "Old Timer Collection Series". The first three
prints in the series have been released. Each print in the series portrays a
nostalgic fishing lure, a well used rod, reel, and tackle box. With print
titles such as Old Reliable, Grandpa's Favorite, and A Sure Thing, every
angler is likely to have fond memories of that timeless moment of long ago.
Each lure may have a story to tell, a story of a silent battle, or the laugh
of a fishing friend or family member. Maybe they recall that certain season
when the world seemed, perhaps, a little more simple. In faded colors and
finely cracked enamel, they are a starting place for the memory and a treasure
to those who understand. |
